I don't really know why you'd be here. I mean, I know I'm the single most interesting person, but don't you people have lives? Really, it's quite sad.

No time

I can't believe how close the first weekend in October is, and how close Texas is becoming. We still have so much to do. I really shouldn't be on here, but whatever.

Last week I decided to eat my words about preferring to have a head cold over the abdominal pain I experienced the week before. Despite the high fever, I managed to finish transcribing the Clinic Notes portion of my course (the first of 3 transcription modules). That is currently being put on hold as we prepare for basically a PCS (permanent change of station), possibly with much of our household goods going into storage for 4-5 years.

A week ago, we had our realtors over for dinner to assess progress on the house and begin discussions of placing the house on the market in about 6 months. The realtor who helped us find the house has now teamed up with her husband and both of them were very optimistic about being able to get it sold and sold for a fairly good return for us. So that was good news for us, but we still need to finish making the downstairs look good.

Then Paul's sister came down to visit for the weekend. She and I spent Friday watching the US Cavalry Competition and touring the post. Saturday was the post's open house, which is always a ton of fun. I'll post some fun pictures once we can send them from Paul's phone (we live in extended network and need to be in VW territory). Sunday after church but before Helen left, we took the time to do the driving tour in Council Grove.

Sunday morning in church I remembered that my aunt and uncle had talked about visiting us this week on their way out to Colorado. Carol called on Sunday night and they were here by mid-afternoon on Monday. We had so much fun with them! They took us out for dinner in Council Grove, then we walked the riverwalk and around downtown to see some of the history, which they just loved. Yesterday morning, I gave Carol and Dave a tour of the post. Neither of them had been on a military installation, which is always fun for the tour guide.

Today I need to start packing up some books and going through crap that's in the library, most of which needs to be tossed. I also need to get some painting done in the bathroom. Tomorrow evening we are packing up a UHaul to take stones and several other items we wouldn't want to move overseas with us, which is hopefully where we are headed after Paul's tour in Korea. Most of what we own, honestly, wouldn't go overseas with us. But we don't know yet whether we can have the military put our stuff in storage now and just leave it there if we move OCONUS and have them pack up a crate of the few things we'd want to take over with us. We just don't know how it works, but that will hopefully be answered next Tuesday. We're just trying not to be overwhelmed by what is left to do before Texas, before Paul goes to Korea, and before I go visit him in Korea.
