I don't really know why you'd be here. I mean, I know I'm the single most interesting person, but don't you people have lives? Really, it's quite sad.

I feel like I have nothing worth posting about

Unlike a year ago, things are actually pretty quiet here. We're still waiting to find out what the heck is going on with Paul transferring branches, but there probably won't be much happening with all that until this fall anyway. We're a little tired of the waiting game.

In the mean time, I have been discovering the joys of drying clothes the old fashioned way: on a clothesline. No, our dryer isn't broken. I just like hanging clothes out to dry instead. First off, it gives me an excuse to spend more time outside, which I love. Second, it costs a whole lot less. And third, it keeps the house much cooler which, in turn, means the AC runs less, which also saves us money. Oh, and it forces me to fold and put away clothes immediately and they don't get all wrinkled sitting in the dryer for days. Seriously, I don't know why more people don't do it. I think it takes less time for many items to dry, too.

I came inside this morning after hanging the first load of laundry and picked two deer ticks off of me! We've been keeping our grass nicely mowed, too. So that's a little irritating and means we probably will aquire some spray and soak the whole lawn because I'd rather not have to do tick checks every single night before bed. In fact, Paul may already have some when he gets home.

Maybe one of these days I'll get Paul's post about socialized medicine/unified healthcare posted to his site...I just haven't had the motivation to do the editing on it yet. No, seriously, I'll get to it one of these days. It's really good for people to read, especially with all the hype about Michael Moore's Sicko.

Oh, here's something a little interesting: We decided to test our limits of poison ivy exposure on Wednesday afternoon. Basically, we were determined to find a cache on the Oklahoma/Kansas border that hadn't been found since mid-2006. We discovered there was a reason for that. Not only was the road to get there fun, but there was absolutely no trail and TONS of poison ivy, some of which was as tall as I am. It being a hot day, we had both worn shorts and short sleeves. Yeah, we were a little dumb. By the time we realized PI was inevitable, we'd both been exposed several times over and decided to just take our chances. We successfully located the cache, then headed back the way we came as it was, truly, the best option. We got back to the car fairly quickly (seems it's always faster on the way back), but neither of us wanted to get in when we knew we had PI all over our clothes and skin. We were parked near a boat ramp for a river, so we changed into swim suits and headed down to the muddy river with a bar of soap. The result: neither of us can locate a single spot of poison ivy anywhere on us and we were exposed for probably an hour or so. It pretty much confirmed what we thought to be true--that neither of us are terribly sensitive to it--but I still ain't takin' chances if I can avoid it.

I also re-learned how sensitive I am to nettles. I'm still itchy in that spot. And that was definitively nettles because it was almost instantaneous pain and swelling.

I still love being outside and hiking. Speaking of which...time to check on the clothesline!
