Yes, even I have the occasional pet peeve(s). ;-) These are from work...
1) People who throw away a box of disposable gloves that still contains a pair and a half of perfectly usable gloves, leaving the person in search of gloves wondering where on earth the box that was there just two weeks before disappeared to.
2) People who don't rinse out the mop head after use.
3) People who don't rinse out the mop bucket after use.
4) People who don't hang up the mop on the handy-dandy little mop hanger-upper-thingy that someone in the church made specially for us that catches the water drips from the mop and funnels it down the drain so the mop can sufficiently dry without getting other things wet or dripping dirty water back into the theoretically rinsed out bucket.
Even more than any of that, however...
5) People who don't dump the dirty water out of the mop buckets and just leave it sitting around for days on end smelling gross and other people eventually have to dump it for them in order to use said buckets.
(I don't know if I'm about to get sexist here or what, but I want to have my say...actually, I'm just in the mood for a good rant :))
It is to be noted that there is now only one male working as a custodian at church. I know he never leaves buckets of dirty water sitting around. I know I never leave buckets of dirty water sitting around. I'm pretty sure, although have no proof, that the other veteran custodian never leaves buckets of dirty water sitting around. What does that leave? Two girls. Two high school girls. Perhaps they think it's too heavy. Perhaps they think it's too gross. Perhaps they just don't think... ;) I'm sorry, but I don't see it being too hard or too gross to be an excuse. I do a lot of things over there that most girls wouldn't like doing and would find difficult. Some of it I don't like doing and I do find difficult, but I still do it if I can, otherwise I track down my boss or one of the pastors or a friend that happens to be lurking about. But I get it done if it is within my power and a bucket of water is not too heavy to lift if you just give it a try...even for a high school girl. Trust me.
Speaking of being gross and difficult....boys are icky. I'm in the middle of refinishing the second and final men's restroom at church and my conclusion is the same: boys are icky. That is something that is definitely not fun to clean (the bathroom, not the boys you silly, silly people :-P).
This brings to mind another peeve of mine...People who don't regularly clean the area they are assigned to clean, especially if that includes a bathroom, but most especially if that includes a men's bathroom.
And now, I sit here and think: I am so strange. I just ranted for a good 15 minutes about bathrooms and cleaning and not that I hate it, but that I don't think it's being done right or at least not up to the par I feel it should. Maybe I should drop out of school and ask Jeanne if I can become the full-time custodian at church. Goodness knows I'm there enough. ;)
Oh, one good thing I will say about the upstairs men's restroom at Memorial: It has amazing acoustics! I think I could sit in there and sing all day (except, of course, for the fact that it STINKS in there! :)).
I believe I'm done. I'll let you know if I get a second wind. :)
