...and I'm sticking to it
I saw the coolest license plate the other day. I think most of you know how Iowa license plates are laid out. This was just a general Story County plate that said: THATSMY

A funny thing happened on the way to Texas
I got a job.
Collegiate Presbyterian Church Secretary.
$25,000/yr.
And that means....no more Subway (notice has already been given so I will have 4 days when we get back). And I get to find myself an apartment and health insurance finally! wahoo!!
Lots to do when we get back to the great cold state of Iowa, but right now we've got some beach walking to do along the Gulf of Mexico.
Have a wonderful day. I am. :-D

A Bedtime Story
Paul really likes this story, so I thought I'd share it with you all.
On election day in November, I showed up at the church in the afternoon to work [looking back after getting over my denial, I showed up "to work" and possibly wouldn't have even parked my car had I not seen Paul's Cadillac in the lot] and was greeted by a mass of people there to vote, so working definitely wasn't going to happen. So I tracked down Paul in the office and we talked for quite a while, which was pretty typical by that point. It was getting to be around supper time and finally Paul very carefully asked me to have dinner with him. I say "carefully" because he did it in such a way that it only barely implied that he would be paying and he made sure I knew it would be Hickory Park [my favorite restaurant, for those who don't know, which is a fact that he knew].
Now let me explain something. I have had a fairly strong history of shying away and trying to avoid being asked out at all costs. In fact, those were my thoughts after the very first time Paul and I met back in January 2004--a story for another time perhaps. However, just the day before, on November 1, I had decided that there were several guys I knew from church who I would not turn down if they ever asked me out. Paul was one of those guys and, really, the most likely of all of them to actually ask me out.
So there we were, standing in the hallway by the offices at church, he wasn't even outright asking me out, and I kept telling myself, "you just said yesterday you wouldn't turn him down." So I finally said yes, but that I had to be back to the church by 6:45 so I could get home for Gilmore Girls because I hadn't set a tape. Yeah...I missed the beginning of GG and didn't get it taped.
Now comes Paul's favorite part of the story: The next day. I got to work at the soil lab the next day and was talking to the women I worked with, saying, "so, um, I think I maybe had a date last night, but I'm not sure." They, of course, asked me more about it and I said we went out to eat, going together in his car and he paid. They said, "yep, that was a date." "But I was in jeans from work and a sweatshirt and gross..." "It was a date."
*sigh* It surely was. :-D

Just a few things
Jim Brickman was wonderful. Olive Garden gift cards are wonderful. We both had yummy, yummy entrees and shared an entire bottle of wine and out of pocket expense (after two gift cards were exhausted) was $3 plus tip. It was a wonderful evening.
I love my sister's new blog. Go there now. thank you.
My sis and her hubby are moving to Belleville, WI. Paul and I will be helping them in the little time we can afford this weekend as he has a test on Monday. Ick.
Next time you go to Subway, do three things: 1) try the honey oat bread. 2) get your sub toasted. 3) speak up! this is most important because you would not believe the background noise behind the counter. Thank you. :)
Lemstone Books just moved to a new location downtown by the train depot, and it's about 10 times the size of the store at the mall. If you're in Ames, check it out. I will be later today.
BTW moM, I put you down as a reference for the Office Coordinator position with Habitat for Humanity, so talk me up, would ya? ;-)
Brad Paisley rocks my world.
And last, but certainly not least, my boyfriend is wonderful and amazing and random and I love him more than I ever thought I could love anyone. It's the bestest feeling in the world.
[P.S. and today makes 4 months. weee! :-D]
