I don't really know why you'd be here. I mean, I know I'm the single most interesting person, but don't you people have lives? Really, it's quite sad.

Due to circumstances beyond my immediate control (class, work, TracFone being evil, etc.), this is 42 minutes and 53 seconds (no joke) late...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETHY!! :-)

wow, how the heck old are you now? hmm....24, isn't it? well, if I'm not mistaken, I know someone else who will turn 24 in a couple months.... :-D

About internet at home...
It's stupid and annoying. I will probably soon be forced to restart my computer, which means Netscape will work again. Being forced to use the AOL browser, however, I am now able to see comments on both Beth's and my blogs. I use the term "see" loosely. I can see the links. I can click the links. I can see all the pretty colors, read the comments, and post my own comments...on Beth's blog. On mine, however, I can see a blank white page. Sometimes I can "view source" and see what ya'll have said by reading the HTML code, but those times are few and far between. I can most certainly not post my own comments. It is highly irritating.

About my billiards class...
This week we started a tournament that consisted of both a winners bracket and a losers bracket. The winners of each bracket will play each other to determine the tournament champion. Yesterday, yours truly played in the final game of the winners bracket. Now before you all get too proud of my amazing pool playing abilities, let me tell you how I got to that point in the tournament:

Day 1: Paired to play Gabe, the best player in our class. He skipped class that day. I won by default.
Day 2: Paired to play Junaid. He never showed up to class. I won by default.
Day 3: Paired to play John. He never came. I, again, won by default.
Day 4: Paired to play Ryan. He was there. I lost because I, in reality, suck at pool.

About phobias...
I basically have three phobias: heights, dogs, and butterflies/moths/fluttery insects. I can hear you all laughing at that last one...mostly because I have actually heard all of you laugh at me because of that fear. It's not funny--I was almost attacked by a monarch on my walk this afternoon! I am not alone in that fear. I know of at least four other people who share it with me. I haven't been able to find a name for it, so there's a challenge for all you bored people who have nothing better to do than sit at a computer and read silly blogs like my sister's and mine.

Anyway, the reason I bring up phobias is because there are stranger ones than mine. I caught the end of Montel Williams' show today and I wish I'd seen the whole thing because it was about overcoming fears. The three fears I heard mentioned were feet (one of my friends at Greenville has that fear), mushrooms (I wouldn't say I'm afraid of them, just don't like 'em :-P), and....bread. Yes, you heard me: BREAD. She was fine with toast, but it had to be DARKLY toasted. She wouldn't even touch the stuff. It was crazy. So just think about that the next time you feel tempted to make fun of me for butterflies. I realize it probably won't stop any of you (and I really don't care, but I'd hope you all know me well enough to know that :)), but at least my fear is of something alive that could fly at me or get caught in my hair or fly in my mouth or something equally disgusting.

About the Creation and Cornerstone Festivals...
It causes me a great deal of pain to say that I don't think I'll be able to go to either. Reasons:

1) It has been a month since I've made any money.
2) I spent $100 to go to Melissa's wedding (yes, it was worth that).
3) I HATE, LOATHE, DESPISE Greyhound. In order to get both to Racine and back to Ames after one or both fest, I would probably have to take the bus. On the way out there, either with a 3hr layover in Des Moines in the middle of the night--I would never do that, not knowing the DSM bus station; or somehow getting to Des Moines for the 7AM bus again, which I desperately don't want to do.
4) Another option would be the train, which I would absolutely love because I love trains, but it would cost $40 more than the bus and I would have to get all the way down south of Des Moines for a 9AM train.
5) I would have to make special arrangements with my instructors to miss the last three days of class, which they're both willing to do, but it will be a pain.
6) I could stay around Ames working at church on floors.
7) I would get to see Eric a lot more.

...all of this leading to a conclusion that makes me want to cry, especially since I probably will not get another chance to see Steve Taylor, but I don't see how it can be helped. I am, however, open to any and all suggestions.

About not being 21 yet...
Grr. So there's this concert that Eric and I would love to go to on June 20th. Diamond Rio, one of our favorite bands, will be performing in Osceola, IA. The catch? The whole reason we can't go? It's at the casino. You have to be 21 to attend the concert. June 20th is one week and six days from my 21st birthday.

About long blog posts...
They're annoying. I apologize.

About the Mr. Goodbar candybar...
Beth, you're right. It is one of the best. :)

I realized that I forgot to mention an important event from the past couple weeks....

I finally saw Journey in concert!

Some of you may not realize just how big a Journey fan I am. Of course that may partly be because it was only within the past year and a half that I realized how big a Journey fan I am. Once realized, it cannot be denied. I soon became addicted not only to their Greatest Hits album, but also to their newest release, Arrival. Last summer I found out they would be playing the Iowa State Fair, but was unable to attend due to money and transportation issues. I vowed, however, that if they played the fair again, nothing could keep me away. They gave me something better....a full indoor concert at Hilton Coliseum right here in Ames!

But it gets better....Performing right along with Journey were Styx and REO Speedwagon....

But it gets better....The cost to me: $0. I totally would have paid the full $50 for this amazing show; however, Tracy's mom decided to treat us to the concert for Tracy's birthday. I love you, Allison! :)

But wait....yes, it gets even better....My darling boyfriend was working traffic crew for this concert so not only was he in town for the weekend, but I got to watch half the concert with him! yay! :)

Oh, how was the actual concert, you ask? Didn't you hear me tell you who it was? I think that says it all... No, really, it was amazing. I didn't know that many Styx songs, but they were still great. I knew about half of REO, which was also great. And I knew all but two or three Journey songs and, while there were some songs I wish they'd done that they didn't (or just played more than one song off Arrival), they still rocked my socks off. And, of course, "Open Arms" and "Faithfully" were downright amazing....beautiful red grand piano....oh yeah, baby! :)

I do have an excuse, or perhaps excuses, for this: I didn't feel like writing the post at Durham, so was going to do it here at home only to find that Netscape has started hating me now, too. So let's see...Internet Explorer has refused to work ever since I got home. Now Netscape won't load pages (I need to restart, I know, but I hate restarting :)). But I found that I can go to sites with AOL's web browser, which, oddly enough, is powered by Internet Explorer. My head hurts. :-P

Now, even though I discovered this fact a couple of days ago, I've been a little busy....my boyfriend plus ten thousand other people being in town all at once will do that. :) So here we go....an update, which will be boring so be prepared....

OK, so my last real post was right before Spring Break. To get home for said break, I went on the annual trip to Maquoketa Caves with the youth group from Springfield. The actual break was, well, not the best Spring Break I've had. I endured several annoying doctor's appointments (yes, I'm fine :)), researched a bunch for debate, and did some searching for internships that never showed.

Three weeks after break, I went back to Ames (a VERY confusing and complicated way that I will never repeat) for VEISHEA and to get some minor stitches out. The original plan was to surprise my best friend Phil with this visit, but he decided to go home to Iowa City that weekend. I was, of course, disappointed, but would see him the next weekend when I was home for Easter, and the weekend ended up being a very good thing. Because, you see, I then ended up spending all my time that weekend with Eric, Phil's roommate and a mutual friend of ours from church. All that time together was something of a wake-up call for both of us....I left Ames to go back to Greenville a very confused girl....

...The confusion only lasted about a week because Eric and I talked about it when I was home for Easter. Two weeks later (May 4th at approximately 2AM over the phone, to be exact ;)), we were officially dating. So, as indicated by my previous post, he and I have been together just over a month. We wish the whole distance thing would melt away (he is now in the working world, 2 hours from here), but otherwise it's just great and we are very happy. :)

OK, so that's probably the most exciting part of this post....otherwise, my graphic design class dang near killed me at the end of the semester. I came out of it with my GPA intacted, though, so I'm happy. I do not have a job or internship at this time, but should start refinishing floors at church sometime soon. I am currently taking two classes at Iowa State: Walking for Fitness and Pocket Billiards. They're both actually a lot of fun and I need the credits for Greenville.

Agape Music Festival was awesome and I got to see my good friend Melissa perform, plus Sixpence None The Richer and Jars of Clay. Beth and Josh came down for that, as did Stevie from Springfield. :) That could, potentially, be the only festival I attend this summer...I don't like to think about it now because it's frustrating and makes my head hurt.

Last weekend, my good friend Melissa (different from the Agape comments) got married in Springfield. I spent a good 24 hours on the bus (there and back) in order to celebrate this happy occasion with her, but it was worth it, and I got to see many old friends I hadn't seen in quite a while. I never want to see a Greyhound bus ever again, though!

This weekend was Scandinavian Days in Story City just north of here....good food. :-D The craft show and flea market were both lacking anything of much interest this year except a rockhound/jewler who's known our family for many, many, many years (because of this) and a plaque I almost bought for Eric, reading: "Grant me humility, I'm a Huskers fan." Please, do forgive him for this one flaw of his... ;-D

Are archives really that hard or am I just that dumb? Or maybe I just don't have the patience right now to try to figure them out...

Anyway, I'm tired and need to go in search of some coffee soon, but I will do a nice update on my life tomorrow. What? You doubt that I will? I'll bet ya'll have stopped reading this silly thing anyway....your loss. I do eventually get back to things (most of the time). :)

There is, however, one small thing I must mention today...ok, so I really don't think it's all that small and it makes me smile a lot lot lot... :-P

Happy 1-Month Anniversary, Eric! I really miss you but will see you in a couple days... I love you! *hug* :-D

(And if any of you out there reading this didn't know about this latest development in my life, where the heck have you been and why haven't I talked to you?? ;))

I just got caught up on reading my sister's wonderful blog...

I will post to my own soon....I promise. :)

For now, however, I must go attempt to play billiards much better than I did yesterday. I just didn't care and wasn't trying yesterday. :)
