I don't really know why you'd be here. I mean, I know I'm the single most interesting person, but don't you people have lives? Really, it's quite sad.

This week was a pretty good example of me getting really super busy. At the time I went to bed last night (which, btw, was 10pm and I'm very proud of that :)), I had gotten a total of 6 hours of sleep the two nights before. Yes, I have had a lot of coffee this week. Now I get something of a break except that it's Homecoming weekend so that means there are actually people on campus and I'd like to finally attend a football game. Also, next week isn't going to be any better than this last week. And we're starting to get into the build up of work that always leads up to Thanksgiving Break.

I got bio info from Jenn Hanson and found out she's originally from Iowa (where, I'm not sure, though) and before working at Sparrow, worked for Essential. Oh yes, I'm jealous, but also really excited to meet her. :) There's gonna be lots of work to pull this off, but it's gonna be so much fun.

For at least today, I'm giving myself nothing to do seeing as my brain's been fried this week. I really think my interpersonal communication theory paper is really good, though, so it was worth it. We'll wait to see what Prof Ross thought. :) Today and tonight are reserved for Golf (computer solitaire potentially more addictive than FreeCell), Gilmore Girls, video games, and friends. Speaking of golfish things...I really should find somewhere to buy a new disc so Geoff and I can go disc golfing sometime again before it gets too cold. I am thoroughly convinced that the only disc golf discs in Greenville reside in my closet. Not even at the Super Wal-Mart in Highland could we find discs.

I miss my concert-going days... Upcoming concerts I may be attending:

November 2 - Waterdeep in Manchester, MO (can't beat free, man...need to figure out a ride, though)
November 15 - Sixpence in Chicago (I told my friend Melissa about it last night and she really wants to go, as do I)

Oh yeah, I also want to say, although I'm sure he doesn't read this: Happy Birthday, Kyle!

Pardon me, but I must rant...

In my intro to public relations class we have a semester-long group project to bring in a guest speaker from the field of public relations to come talk to our class and anyone else we invite. We have to do all the preparatation and make sure everything goes smoothly and as planned. The only thing we don't have to do is find/ask the speaker to come and pay them (our prof did that for us). There are six groups and the possible speakers all deal with various markets. Because Greenville is such a CCM/CCM-business school, one of the speakers is Jennifer Hanson from Sparrow Records. When we signed up for who we wanted to work with bringing in, I, of course, ran straight to Jennifer's name and signed up.

That was several weeks ago and I didn't really know a single other person in my group since none of them were the girls I sit with, but I really wanted the Jenn Hanson group. Tonight was the first real meeting of my group that I have attended. They've met several times before tonight, but Christy, the girl who sent out emails to everyone, just assumed that GC was still using the first initial-last name@greenville.edu format for new students, so I never got the emails. Never did she think to actually go into our greenville.edu address book in our email accounts and look up "Weitzel, Karleen" to make sure she got the address right. So I had no clue my group had been meeting. Then I found out that they were meeting every Tuesday at 7pm. I have class every Tuesday from 6:30-9:20pm. I also have class those times on Thursdays and usually have to watch a video for my Tuesday class on Wednesday night in the library. So that left Monday nights.

Another girl in my group, Amy, talked with me briefly before anyone else (namely Christy) got to the library tonight about how she feels like Christy is doing everything and not letting....basically not letting us work as a group. This is the kind of person Christy is. I've been able to tell it almost from the first day of class and I have to say I was less than thrilled when I realized she was in my group. She likes to be in control and doesn't seem to trust us to get things done or done "right." Yet at the same time, she thinks that we should trust her to get things done and right. Christy did give me things to do tonight: writing a press release, the introduction speech, and the bio for the program (all pretty interrelated). However, with each thing, she asked me, "Have you ever written this before? Do you know how to do it?" I felt like saying, "OK, what is the name of this class? Oh yeah, INTRO to Public Relations....we're learning this stuff for the first time and our book tells us the criteria." Thinking back on it, I think it bothered Amy to have Christy asking me that, too, because she said something about the book telling us how to do it. Walking out of the library after the group broke for the night, Amy was really ticked and talking about how mad Christy always made her, which I had to agree with. She got a really good laugh, though, when I told her Christy had been on my "Least Likely to be Friends" list.

Quick explanation of the aforementioned list:
For Homecoming and as a fundraiser for the Junior class, we did a matchmaker quiz thing where you could then buy the results and see who you match up with and go online to see the full results and everything. We did something very similar in high school for Valentine's Day. It's very high school, but it's very funny. And this provides a list of 50 people you're most compatible with as dates and friends (both male and female friends), as well as 50 people you're least compatible with in those categories. Christy was on my least compatible list. So were at least four of my friends here, but, ya know... ;)

Thanks for reading, I feel a little better now. I'm just glad I'm not the only person in the group who feels that way. :)

As a way of putting off even figuring out how much homework I have this week (I know there's at least a paper and a quiz), I feel like commenting on my somewhat odd church attendance.

First of all, nothing can ever replace Memorial Lutheran, my home church which I love to pieces. Here in Greenville, I regularly attend two churches each Sunday: Greenville Free Methodist and Our Redeemer Lutheran (LCMS). I have several reasons for this oddish behaviour. First, one of my reasons for coming to school here is that I'm curious about the Free Methodist Church as a denomination. The FM church is more the size I'm used to and all my long-time friends from the Springfield FM Church attend the 8:30am service. Our Redeemer is quite a bit smaller than I'm used to. A lot smaller, actually: not even 100 attend Sunday mornings. However, I greatly missed the Lutheran liturgy, hymns, and regular Communion. And everyone at that church is so wonderful and friendly. It's small enough that they notice and stop and talk to you. That service is at 10:15, so I have just enough time to come back to the dining commons to have breakfast. It has been very interesting comparing the two services. Most weeks they have the same Bible passages so I get two different sermons on the same passage.

All this was actually to share something funny with you that has now appeared twice in the announcements in the bulletin for the Lutheran church:

KICKOFF SUNDAY- (No its not Super Bowel already)!

I also must point out that there are, in fact, two....three, if you ask me, who gets really picky....errors. It bothers me, but at the same time, cracks me up. I'm considering sending it to Jay Leno. Think it's Headlines material?

One last, random note: I am absolutely in love with the song "How To Dream" by Sam Phillips. A link may be coming.

14:55  +  Zero! Zero random comments! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Let's not discuss today's game...much. I cried. I cried when I first heard the halftime score. I cried when TV Guide lied to me about the game being shown here. I cried when I lost my internet so I couldn't listen. I am convinced this is the reason the game turned out as it did. Had I been able to watch or listen, we at least would have looked respectable.

(I did laugh a little at how pathetic our stats were...no other reaction could come.)

+++++++++++++++

Tonight I watched MST3K Pod People with 8 other people in a tiny dorm room. It was extremely warm, but so much fun. 7 of the people had never seen it before. After having seen it countless times myself, it was very entertaining watching and hearing the reactions of people seeing it for the first time.

Now I'm back in my own room, attempting to air it out before going to bed. My neighbor Melissa came over and we watched Gilmore Girls (as we usually do). She made popcorn and intentionally burned it. She likes it that way. So now I and my room reek of burnt popcorn smell. And I have the fan in the window on high and it's 36 degrees out, so it's freezing in here but I can't stand the smell. yuck.

So I've discovered that I apparently like starting my posts with "So I've...". So I've decided I will try to avoid always doing that in the future.

So I've come to a conclusion: Bethy's smarter and knows more HTML coding than I do. I know real basic stuff. My head hurts right now, but I'm trying real hard to make this cool for all two people who'll read it. She's been a big help for this lazy bum who doesn't want to figure it out on her own...and who's monitor is currently color blind.

And we want our comments back!

So I've officially jumped on the bandwagon...or is it the "blogwagon"? Whatever. I have caved. It's hard to say how often I will actually post since I am in my 3rd year of college, taking rather work-intensive (at times) classes. Expect randomness. Expect wittiness. Expect impeccable spelling and grammar. Expect humbleness. Because I am just that cool. Stay tuned...
